When we started looking at venues we wanted it to be somewhere that was special to us and easy to get to for our guests. The small reptile house at Lincoln Park Zoo was the first place on each of our lists and we were delighted when we found that we could hold our wedding there.
Venue
We want to have as much time as we can with friends and family so we were excited to learn that we could have both the wedding ceremony, cocktail mingling and the reception in the same building.
The small reptile building has a mix of quiet spaces, organic habitats and and a two story glass solarium. It’s also on the lovely duck pond trail in case you get in a little early and want to stroll around a bit.
Cocktails
After the ceremony we’ll move over to the habitat for drinks, music and mingling. There are two floors to explore as well as several cabana’s with seating, if you want to sit a while to take in the space.
Wedding Ceremony
We are going to start out with the gathering and wedding ceremony in the enclosed display area. This space will be a bit darker than a lot of wedding spaces, to protect the reptiles, but it’s open, cozy and full of interesting creatures.
Reception
Once the enclosed display area has been setup for the reception we’ll take our drinks and move back there for dancing, speeches, a food buffet and fun!
